About Me

First of all I'm a mom of two wonderful, talented, beautiful daughters. My mother owned a drapery company for a large portion of my childhood & into my high school days so the sounds of sewing machines running and ladies giggling while they worked 8-10 hours was a sound that I was quite familiar with. I never thought of myself as artistic or crafty because my mom (in my opinion) was the most talented & artistic person I had ever known. It seemed there was NOTHING she could not do or make or create & I never felt like I could live up to that. It started when I was in my 20's and married. Mom came to visit & said "you need to learn to crochet." Reluctantly & sure of my quick failure I agreed to try. Amazingly, I was pretty good at it (after some practice) & really came to enjoy it. When I got good and comfortable with that she said, "well now you need to learn to knit." KNITTING???? isn't that much harder? However, I tried & with some time mastered that, but I could never sew on a machine.... right?




In August of 2002 (on my birthday) when I was pregnant with my first child my mom took me to the store to pick out my sewing machine... I had heard them running my whole life & yet they seemed completely foreign to me but like the other forms of sewing I thought I'd give it a shot... basically because my mommy told me I had to :-) I took home my shiny new Kenmore sewing machine with storage case & set it on the dining room table... where it sat, packaged nicely in its storage case for a month or so. That is, until I moved it to the hall closet. In October of that same year my husband & his brothers had planned a big hunting trip & would be gone to Colorado for a week. My mom called, "grandma & I are coming to visit for a few days... to teach you to sew" WHAT????




The rest is history I guess... I love to sew. For about 5 years I owned and operated an online business called The Brag Bag. I made custom photo purses. A few years ago I made the decision to close down because I had too many orders to keep up with & it became very stressful. I knew I needed to focus on my children. I still make all kinds of things: clothing (including flower girl formals) for my kids, hairbows, burp cloths, & more. Friends of mine always tell me I should sell some of the things I make.
